Our Legacy

About the Samaj

Seven decades of preserving Vedic tradition in the heart of Bangalore.

Our Story

From 1955 to Today

The Gowda Saraswath Samaj, Bangalore was born of a simple, powerful conviction — that a community rooted far from its ancestral coast needed a sanctuary for its language, its rituals, and its dharma. On the third of March, 1955, our elders formally registered the Samaj under the Mysore Societies Registration Act.

In the decades since, Dwarakanath Bhavan on K.R. Road has grown into much more than a hall. It is where every Vishwavasu, Prabhava and Krodhi has been welcomed with Ugadi; where the Deepa is lit for Sharadotsava; where the young receive Upanayana; and where the departed are remembered through Pitra Shraddha.

All our observances follow the Mangalore Panchanga and the Vratotsavadi Nirnaya Patrika of Shree Gokarna Parthagali Jeevotham Mutt — the guiding lights of our sampradaya.

Our Vision

Dharma.
Community.
Continuity.

We exist to preserve the sacred practices of the Gowda Saraswath Brahmin tradition, to nurture belonging across generations, and to serve — through daana, seva and satsang — the wider community around us.
